The Guest Turnover Checklist

How to leave the space ready and welcoming for the next guests.

Clean and tidy vacation home interior

When you're staying at a Homier home, you're not a customer. You're part of the circle. That means the way you leave the space matters.

There's no five-star review. And not always a professional cleaning crew waiting in the driveway.

Just trust, respect, and a shared desire to keep the home feeling like a home.

Here's how to reset the space before you head out, so it's warm, ready, and peaceful for whoever comes next.

Flip the Bedrooms You Used

  • Strip the beds you slept in and gather used towels
  • Start a load of laundry (sheets or towels, owner's preference)
  • If you have time, start a second load or transfer to the dryer
  • Remake the beds with fresh or clean sheets if available
  • For unused or already-clean beds, leave duvets folded back or sheets turned down so it's clear what's fresh
  • Return any furniture, pillows, or cushions to their usual spots

Pro tip: focus on leaving the bedrooms "flipped" so it's obvious what's clean and what's ready for the next stay.

Quick Clean & Tidy

  • Wipe down kitchen counters, stove, and table
  • Take out garbage, compost, and recycling (check local bins)
  • Load and run the dishwasher (don't leave dishes in the sink)
  • Sweep or vacuum high-traffic areas if needed

Bathrooms

  • Wipe sinks, mirrors, and counters
  • Replace used hand towels
  • Leave it fresh, not sterile, just cared for

Outdoor Areas

  • Tidy up the patio, porch, or yard
  • Return any furniture, games, or towels
  • Cover the BBQ or firewood if needed

Restock or Refill (If You Used It Up)

  • Coffee, soap, propane, garbage bags, whatever you emptied
  • Leave a note or text if something ran out so the next guests aren't surprised

Final Touches

  • Check for forgotten chargers, clothes, toys
  • Leave the home how you'd love to find it, not spotless, but intentional
  • A thank-you note or bottle of wine never hurts

Hosting That Feels Like Family

At Homier, homes are shared, not rented.

That means every guest plays a small role in keeping the space special, and every turnover is a gesture of care, not obligation.

So thank you, truly, for making the next arrival feel just a little bit easier.
